Barter cost calculator

What do your trade tee times cost you?

If you pay for your tee sheet with tee times, the software is not free. Enter your own numbers to estimate what that inventory is worth in a year, next to a flat price.

Times you hand over for the marketplace to sell.

What you would charge for those times.

Estimate

Annual value of bartered tee times$81,000
TeeMarshal Pro, flat annual price$4,188
Difference per year
$76,812

At these numbers, 2 barter times a day is worth about $81,000 a year in green fees you could have collected. TeeMarshal Pro is $4,188 a year. That is about $76,812 a year that stays at your course, or roughly 19 times the cost of the software.

How this is calculated

barter value = times per day × players per time × green fee × fill rate × days open

= 2 × 4 × $45 × 75% × 300 = $81,000

TeeMarshal = $349 × 12 = $4,188

This is an estimate, not a quote or a guarantee. It uses only the numbers you enter. It does not include payment processing (Stripe's standard rate, paid by you directly to Stripe) or text messages beyond your plan allowance. Your barter terms may differ, so check your agreement.

The starting numbers are an example, not data from a real course. Nothing you type here is sent to us.

Reading the result

Start with your agreement

Find the number of trade times per day, and whether they are fixed prime times or floating. The calculator is only as good as these inputs.

Be honest about fill rate

A traded Saturday 8:10 would almost certainly have sold. A traded Tuesday 3:40 in March may not have. Use a blended number you would defend to your board.

Then look past the dollars

The estimate covers green fees only. It leaves out cart fees, range, food, and the repeat visits from a golfer who is on your list instead of a marketplace's.

Get the barter math guide

The same math as a short written guide you can forward to an owner, a board, or a city manager, with a checklist of what to look for in your current agreement.

Questions about the calculator

How is the estimate calculated?

Barter tee times per day, times players per tee time, times your average green fee, times the share of those spots you would have sold yourself, times the days you are open in a year. That is the green fee revenue attached to the inventory you trade. It is compared with 12 months of the TeeMarshal plan you pick.

What should I use for fill rate?

Use the share of those player spots you believe you would have sold at your own rate if you had kept the times. If the traded times are prime weekend mornings, that number is high. If they are slow weekday afternoons, it is lower. When in doubt, run it at 50% and at 90% and look at both.

Is this what my vendor earns from my course?

No. It estimates what the traded inventory is worth to you at your rates. A marketplace may sell those times for less than your rate, and it may not sell all of them. The cost to your course is the revenue you could have collected, which is what the calculator estimates.

What is not included?

Payment processing (Stripe's standard rate, paid by you to Stripe), text messages beyond your plan allowance, and any cash fees you pay your current vendor on top of barter. It also leaves out the harder-to-price part: golfers who book through a marketplace become that marketplace's contacts.

My agreement is different. Does this still apply?

Barter terms vary by course and by contract. Check your agreement for the number of trade times, which days and hours they cover, and how they are released back to you. Then enter your real numbers.
